* Restylane and other cosmetic fillers
* Laser & Intensed Pulsed Light treatments for hair removal, facial veins,
rosacea, pigmented lesions,
acne, tissue tightening
* Chemical Peels
* Microdermabrasion and Cosmeceuticals
* Leg Vein Treatment (sclerotherapy)
* Body Contouring
The didactic portion along with the clinical hands-on
exposure will allow attendees to gain a comprehensive
understanding of the procedure. The format used in this
activity is an effective method for knowledgeable OB/Gyn
physicians to expand their surgical abilities safely.
Office-based Cosmetic Procedures Learning Objectives:
1. Describe which aesthetic procedures may be safely
integrated into a primary care practice.
2. Use Botulinum Toxin Type A and Cosmetic Fillers to
provide effective facial rejuvenation for patients of
all ages.
3. Integrate laser and light source hair removal into a
primary care practice.
4. Use light source photorejuvenation procedures for
treatment of rosacea, facial telangectasias, pigmented
lesions, and acne.
5. Treat cosmetic leg veins using sclerotherapy, laser,
or combination of the two modalities.
6. Define advanced light source treatments for tissue
tightening, semi-ablative and ablative procedures.
7. Integrate spa type services into a medical office
practice including microdermabrasion, chemical peels,
computerized facial analysis, and use of cosmeceuticals.
8. Define and discuss the differences between
mesotherapy and tumescent liposuction for body
sculpting.
9. Define issues of medical malpractice and how it
relates to the incorporation of cosmetic procedures for
OB/Gyn and other primary care physicians. Assess the
financial benefit of the fee-for-service cosmetic
procedures.
10. Discuss the business and marketing aspects of adding
cosmetic procedures.
11. Explain effective methods to manage dissatisfied or
challenging patients.
Course Outline:
Day One: Introduction to Cosmetic Medicine
8:00-9:00 Registration and breakfast
9:00-9:45 Introduction to Cosmetic Medicine
9:45-10:30 Laser/IPL treatments for hair removal, facial
veins, rosacea, pigmented lesions, acne, tissue
tightening
10:30-11:15 Spa services: computerized facial analysis,
chemical peels, microdermabrasion, cosmeceuticals
11:15-12:00 Botox, cosmetic fillers, and sculptra
12:00-1:00 LUNCH
1:00-1:30 Leg vein treatments: sclerotherapy, lasers, &
IPL
1:30-2:00 Body contouring by Mesotherapy & Liposuction
2:00-4:00 Workshop for Botox, Cosmetic fillers, and
Light Based treatments: video & light model
demonstrations
Day Two: Hands on training for Botox, Cosmetic fillers,
and Light source treatments
(Physicians are expected to bring one or two models
along who will receive supervised cosmetic treatments
for injectables and light source treatments;
arrangements will be made to obtain models if none are
available)
