Learn the process of removing localized fat from the abdomen, thighs, buttocks or elsewhere and re-injecting the fat into the desired locations including face, cheeks, lips, chin, hands, buttocks and breasts.

The didactic portion along with the clinical hands-on exposure will allow attendees to gain a comprehensive understanding of the procedure. The format used in this activity is an effective method for knowledgeable OB/Gyn physicians to expand their surgical abilities safely.

Office-based Advanced Awake Liposuction using local tumescent anesthesia learning objectives:
1. Discuss the history of liposuction and how it has transcended into an office-based procedure.
2. Explain the clinical aspects of the procedure, including patient selection, safe dosing limits of lidocaine in tumescent anesthesia, and proper surgical methods & techniques.
3. Learn proper technique in performing liposuction in the following areas: upper/lower extremeties, head & neck line.
4. Learn the process of removing localized fat from the abdomen or elsewhere and re-injecting the fat into the desired locations.
5. Apply the procedure into the existing OB/GYN office setting from a marketing standpoint.
6. Use the most efficient lay-out in a facility to perform the procedure.
7. Calculate the start-up costs and instrument set-up for the procedure.
8. Define issues of medical malpractice and how it relates to the OB/GYN physicians.
9. Assess the financial benefit of the fee-for-service cosmetic procedure.
10. Describe effective methods to manage patients dissatisfied or challenging.

Day 1

8:00 – 9:00    Review of Basic Liposuction:
                     How to avoid common mistakes and how to perform touchups to fix  undesired results
9:00 – 10:00   Liposuction, filling and shifting for correction of previous liposuction defects – 1st live case
10:00 – 11:00 Liposuction of areas other than abdomen: chin, neck & jowls, arms, inner & outer thighs,
                     buttock reshaping, breasts, considerations for male liposuction
11:00 – 12:00 Liposuction of Chin, Neck, and Jowls – 2nd live case
12:00 – 1:00   Lunch Break – Discussion of new technologies: power assistance, Vaser, internal laser lipolysis,
                     external lasers and radio frequency technology
1:00 – 3:00     Liposuction after previous C-Section/hysterectomy and after previous liposuction/abdominoplasty  – 3rd live case
4:00 – 6:00     Fat Transfer to Buttocks and Breasts -  4th live case
6 pm              Dinner with faculty
